This animation from METimage btwn 26–29 Oct (~15 UTC) shows Hurricane Melissa’s path across the Caribbean. During this period #Melissa rapidly intensified to Cat. 5 strength before making landfall in Jamaica, then moved on to Cuba, bringing severe rain, flooding & widespread damage to both regions. *The Metop-SGA1 satellite and the instruments on board - including METimage - are currently in their initial test phase. Data will be declared operational only after the calibration/validation phase.*
