THE ORIGINAL XIT CATTLE STOCK Texas Longhorn was once the only cattle found on XIT land. That was back in 1889. As the ranch continued to grow, the herd was improved by introducing Hereford and polled Aberdeen Angus. The Rito Blanco division bred the Angus, while the Escarbada, Spring Lake, and Yellow House divisions bred the Herefords.
